As noted in the beginning of this week’s show, Free Form Freakout is now going to be partnering with the Foxy Digitalis webzine to bring you these bi-monthly podcasts. We’ve had a great deal of interaction with that site over the years and our involvement with them, in some sense, motivated us to start these podcast shows in the first place, so this seems like a logical and natural next phase for us. This doesn’t, however, mark any dramatic change in the focus of these shows and how they’re produced. We still plan to “dig deeper into underground and experimental sounds of the past and present”, and you can expect to hear more artist/label interview features, in-studio performances, guest hosts, and album commentary. But, we hope that the show will continue to evolve and that other contributors can lend their voices to original stories, live music reports, album reviews, and who knows what else. Basically, we’re trying to open things up a bit and be more interactive, while maintaining our editorial filter in the process. So, all future editions of the, now called, FFFoxy Podcast will appear on both the Foxy Digitalis site and here on the FFF blog. We’ll continue to post videos, do write-ups, and other things that will be exclusive to our blog, so we hope you continue to check back in with us. Feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or questions.

FFFree Mix(tape) Series, Vol. 4: Come and Trip It Edition

We're still getting acquainted with our new tape deck after the trusty FFF Pioneer kicked the bucket a few weeks back, so we opted to go with another cd-r for this edition of the FFFree Mixtape Series. This compilation contains 19 tracks of various songs and sounds, both new and old. It's like one of the podcast shows, only you can toss this one into your car stereo or use it as a coaster if you are so inclined. The packaging was assembled using discarded record jackets, sleeves, pockets, call cards (etc.) from an area library. The Dewey Decimal aesthetic is in full effect.

So, how does this all work? It's quite simple: write to us and let us know that you want one of these mixes and we'll send one to you free of charge. We encourage you to share with us your own mixes, original music, artwork, writings, recipes (*seriously, we're looking for some good grill recipes and summer drinks right now), poetry, etc. - but that's entirely up to you. There's absolutely no obligation at all.

Again, get in touch with us if you're interested.
